Free Recital in New York City Features Festival Artistic Director Linda Chesis

Festival favorites Amy Burton and Sara Cutler to perform, as a taste of the Cooperstown Chamber Music Festival comes to New York City

 

As part of the festivities celebrating the 90th anniversary of the Manhattan School of Music, Linda Chesis will offer a faculty recital of works by New York City-based composers. The free concert, New York Accents, will be held on Sunday, November 11 at 3 pm in the Manhattan School of Music's Miller Hall. (122nd Street and Broadway).

 

Ms. Chesis, a member of the flute faculty and chair of the woodwind department at the Manhattan School of Music, will perform with Sara Cutler, harp, and Amy Burton, soprano.  This trio performed at the Cooperstown Chamber Music Festival this summer, and will reprise several pieces from that well-received concert. The recital also features Colette

Valentine, piano; Sylvia Rosenberg, violin; Karen Dreyfus, viola; Alan Stepansky,cello; and seven Manhattan School of Music flute alumni, who were students of Ms. Chesis.

 

The artists will perform:

  • Aaron Copland               Duo for flute and piano
  • John Corigliano             Three Irish Folksongs for flute and voice
  • Vincent Persichetti        Serenade for flute and harp
  • Peter Schickele             Monochrome I and V ( for eight flutes)
  • Aaron Kernis                 Air for flute and piano
  • Eric Ewazen                  Bridgehampton Suite for flute and strings
