Festival to be featured on WCNY: Classic FM

The Concert Hall: Saturday evenings 6-8 pm in July
The venue for presenting/promoting concerts

COOPERSTOWN, NY June 17, 2009

July 4th

“Oh, to be in Cooperstown in July”, or a similar thought... so, that’s where we will go.  The Concert Hall will remember the Cooperstown Chamber Music Festival of last year as CCM gears-up for the festival that begins this year on August 2nd.  This first program features The Parker String Quartet performing works by Haydn, Janacek, and Beethoven... And we will add soprano Sarah Wolfson’s lovely voice.  An alternative to the rockets’ red glare, and Happy Independence Day one and all!

You’re in for some “Enchanted Baroque”  and a chamber classic in The Concert Hall this week.  From the Cooperstown Chamber Music Festival of 2008, you will hear music of Henry Purcell, JS Bach, and GP Telemann featuring soprano Lisa Saffer and festival founder and artistic director Linda Chesis.  The featured chamber classic is a CLASSIC FM listeners’ favorite, Schubert’s Quintet in A, Die Forelle.

July seems to go by so quickly, so let’s linger this evening with music from the Cooperstown Chamber Music Festival 2008, tonight featuring the world renowned Daedalus Quartet performing works by Haydn, Shostakovich, and Brahms... balancing that performance with some “pops” sounds by Brazil’s Antonio Carlos Jobim.  Music fit for a summer’s evening in The Concert Hall.

July 25th

It so happens that the concert that closed the Cooperstown Chamber Music Festival 2008 also closes a month-long stay for us by Otsego Lake here in The Concert Hall.  Trio Solisti added festival founder and artistic director Linda Chesis for works by Beethoven, Franck, and Ravel, plus we will spice the night with duo guitar music from Brazil, performed by Joao Luiz and Douglas Lora.  Farewell Cooperstown 2008, the 2009 festival opens on August 2nd!
